Effects of an integrated parenting and mental health intervention on violence reduction and caregiver mental health among migrant and displaced families from Myanmar:
a pragmatic randomized controlled trial
The Parenting for Resilience was designed with and delivered by community members to support migrant and displaced caregivers from Myanmar, aiming to reduce violence against children while also caring for caregivers' own mental health. In a trial with 479 caregivers, those who took part showed lasting reductions in physical and psychological violence against their children and lower psychological distress, with benefits still evident six months later. The findings suggest that combining parenting support with mental health care in one program can make a difference for families in low-resource displacement settings.
